Water tunnel (hydrodynamic)

A water channel is a system for the investigation of flows. In this case, test objects are subjected to a controlled flowing medium similar to a wind tunnel. In contrast to the wind channel is not air, but water is used as medium in the water channel. By the air in comparison with high density and small kinetic viscosity of water is already reached at low flow speeds and small size high Reynolds numbers. With the same model size and flow rate results in an approximately 15-fold larger Reynolds number than in the wind tunnel. An increased water pressure can be the disadvantage of reducing cavitation.
