Waterlooplein

The Waterlooplein is a place in the Dutch capital Amsterdam. On the square and the adjacent Zwanenburgwal there is a flea market in the six days a week. There are around 300 stalls. On Sunday the market is closed.

The Waterlooplein, named after the battle of Waterloo, was 1882, when the Leprozengracht and Houtgracht were filled. There are some folk songs about the place. Not far from the burst are the Stopera and the Blauwbrug. During World War II the Waterlooplein belonged to Jodenbuurt ( " Jewish Quarter " ) in Amsterdam.
