Watford tube station

Watford is an aboveground station London Underground and one of the four western end stations of the Metropolitan Line. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 7, and is one of 14 stations outside of Greater London. It is located on the Cassiobury Park Avenue in the town of Watford. In 2011, the station of 1.57 million passengers was used.

The opening of the station was carried out by the Metropolitan Railway (MR; predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line) on November 2, 1925 ago, as part of the branch line of Moorpark. It was the first range of MR, which was electrified from the outset; during the first months perverted also trains the Great Central Railway to London Marylebone. Although the station is somewhat peripherally, its extension to the center of Watford was never built.

For decades, there was a short railway line, which ran from Watford Junction, the main train station of the city, after Croxley Green. Although this station was only a few hundred meters from the station of the Metropolitan Line, but there never was a connection. There are plans to connect these disused since 1996 line by means of a viaduct with the Metropolitan line at Croxley and expand on double track. The start of the Croxley Rail Link is planned for 2015 or 2016, after which the station Watford to be closed.

The station building is a listed building (Grade II).
