The Watonwan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, the County had 11,211 inhabitants and a population density of 10 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat), Saint James.

Geography

The County is located in southern Minnesota and is about 45 km from Iowa away. It has an area of 1139 square kilometers, of which 14 square kilometers are water surface. At the Watonwan County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Watonwan County was formed on November 6, 1860 from parts of Brown County. It was named after an expression of the Dakota Indians.
