Wattenberg, Tyrol
Wattenberg is a municipality in the Tyrolean lowlands about 20 km east of Innsbruck in the Lower Inn Valley at 700 to 1300 meters above sea level, south of the Inn on the eastern slope of the Wattentals. The municipality covers an area of 67.71 km ² and has 724 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). They recorded 2003 6.800 overnight stays. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Hall in Tirol.

Geography
Wattenberg is a distinct scattered settlement, the settlement area is located mainly on the mostly treeless valley entrance, at the southern end of the valley, there is the military training area Lizum - Walchen. The military exclusion zone lies mostly in the municipality of Wattenberg and is blocked from the command building Walchen for public bus transport as well as for mountain bikers. Coat of arms
The coat of arms of Wattenberg shows a school kid on Two mountain, as was visited from 1756 to 1905 the school under Lechen in Wattenberg of children of both sides of the valley. In Wattenberg taught already in 1524 a schoolmaster, to which the coat of arms is based on the young man. Economy
At an altitude of 2500 m above sea level. A. was pitched the oldest iron mine in northern Tyrol in Wattenberg Mölstal 1315. The smelter was in the area of today's paper mill Wattenspapier. Hydropower and water resources from the community Wattenberg was the reason for the establishment of industrial enterprises of international standing, as Swarovski and Wattenspapier, in the blossoming of the market town of Wattens in the valley of the Inn Valley.
