Waupaca County, Wisconsin
Waupaca County is a county located in the state of Wisconsin in the United States. In the census in 2010, the County had 52 410 inhabitants and a population density of 26.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Waupaca.
Geography
The County is located in east-central Wisconsin and has an area of 1982 square kilometers, of which 37 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
Waupaca County was formed in 1851 from parts of Brown County and Winnebago County. It was named after an expression of Menominee " wau -pa -ka -ho- nak ", which means as much as white sand soil or good young hero.
Historical buildings
- In King, the Veterans Cottages Historic District is located. It includes 32 buildings and was added in 1985 (NRHP 85,001,367 ) from the NRHP as a National Historic Monument.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2000 lived in Waupaca County 51 731 people in 19 863 households. 13,884 families living in the county. The population density was 27 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 97.93 percent White, 0.17 percent African American, 0.42 percent Native American, 0.27 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 0.54 percent from other races groups; 0.66 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.38 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 19 863 households out of which 32.6 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 58.4 percent were married couples living together, 7.4 percent were single mothers. 30.1 percent were non-families. 25.2 percent of all households and 11.7 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.01 persons.
25.7 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 7.1 percent between 18 to 24, 27.8 percent between 25 and 44, 22.7 percent between 45 and 64, and 16.7 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males.
