Wavetable synthesis

A wavetable (English for waveform table ) or a wavetable board is an extension board for electronic tone generators, which makes use of wavetable synthesis.

The internal data communication between carrier and expansion card is mostly done via MIDI. The power of the wavetable is performed via the carrier system in the wavetable card is installed.

Wavetable & Computer

In computer sound cards it is connected via the 26-pin WaveBlaster interface by simply plugging the wavetables ( See also: Sound Blaster ).

Electronic sound generator

In contrast to the above wavetable cards for computer sound cards in which Instrument Bank standards such as General MIDI, General synth or Yamaha's XG are complied with, the expansion cards can be purchased with special instrument sounds in a particular category ( z with synthesizers or Workstation Keyboards. B. Piano, Strings, Brass, Ethnic, etc.)

Thus, by using wavetable expansion cards, an electronic tone generator adjusted afterwards (eg, a big band ) depending on the choice of the wavetable card on the instrument needs to be played and the music direction.

A wavetable is a sound library that is stored on a ROM. Thus, these predefined tones / sounds are available and can be played in succession following with certain programs, without having to import with the appropriate instruments themselves.
