Waw (letter)

Vav ( ו ) is the sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet. He has the numerical value of 6, the most closely related letter in the Latin alphabet is the "W".

The Vav is one next to iodine, Aleph and He to the consonants that can be used as a vowel letter. Receives the waw a point above ( Cholem ) it is to speak as O. When an item is placed in the middle ( Schuruq ), it is considered U.

History

The Hebrew Letter Vav has the same historical background as the Phoenician letter Waw, which goes back to the pictorial representation of a bifurcated hook.
