Wawau Adler

Josef " Wawau " Adler ( born January 25, 1967 in Karlsruhe ) is a German jazz guitarist who is mainly rooted in Gypsy jazz.

Life and work

Adler, who comes from a family of German Sinti musicians, has discovered nine years, the guitar itself. At twelve, he began, influenced by Biréli Lagrène to deal intensively with the guitar and at age 13 his first concerts. With about twenty years he expanded his musical horizons by also dealt with mainstream jazz, bebop and jazz rock.

In 1991, he played a his first album and was in the next few years several times in Western Europe on tour. On the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois -sur -Seine in 2003, he gave a major concert. Since 2007 he is also recognized in North America, where he was first on the Django in June festival in Northampton (Massachusetts ) had a supporting role in 2008 and toured in Canada. With his trio with rhythm guitarist wood Manno Winterstein and accordionist Marcel Loeffler, with whom he his album Back to the Roots. Vol 2 (2006) recorded, he gave several concerts at the Schleswig- Holstein Music Festival. He also played with Diknu Schneeberger.
