Wayne Cochran

Wayne Cochran ( born 1938 in Thomaston, Georgia ) is an American soul singer.

Life

His musical career began in 1955 with the creation of his first band. After he had moved to Macon, Georgia, and after numerous member changes, he was known by the name Wayne Cochran & the CC Riders. By James Brown and his extensive touring affected, he bought a bus and went on tour. They performed throughout the South and Southwest, before they settled in Miami and the house band of the Barn (aka The House of Soul ) were. Became known Wayne Cochran failed by his stage clothes and its eye-catching hair style.

The first plate he took on in 1959, followed by another, which often were female names in the title ( Liza Jane, Linda Lu, Cindy Marie). The most famous number, which he wrote and recorded was Last Kiss, but it was his own interpretation unsuccessful, until the release of J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers, it reached # 2 on the pop charts.

His excessive touring and singing to the skies let his voice increasingly disappear. According to rough personal difficulties he was reawakened in 1981 and is now a Christian preacher in Miami. On 26 July and on 1 August 2001 Wayne Cochran & the CC Riders came together again to Miami and Hollywood, Florida.
