Wayne County (West Virginia)

Wayne County is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Wayne.

Geography

The County is located in southwest West Virginia, adjacent to Ohio where the border is formed by the Ohio River, as well as Kentucky and has an area of ​​1327 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. History

Wayne County was formed on January 18, 1842 from parts of Cabell County. It was named after Anthony Wayne, an American General in the Indian Wars and the American Revolutionary War.
