Wayne Jones (darts player)

Wayne Alan Jones ( born April 24, 1967 in Wolverhampton ) is an English darts player. Currently he is in the PDC under contract.

Career

Starts at the BDO

The late 1980s, Jones began his career at BDO 1990 and reached the final of the British Open and the British Classic 2000, but lost both finals. In 1999 he reached the final of the Winmau World Masters, but lost in the finals Andy Fordham.

By 2001, Jones failed to qualify for the BDO World Championship itself. In 2001, he lost in the first round Andy Fordham. In the 2002 World Cup, he reached the quarter-finals, after he had Tony Eccles and Ted Hankey defeated each 3-2, but then lost 1:5 against Martin Adams.

Changes to the PDC

In 2006, he penetrated to the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship, but was defeated Peter Manley with 0:6. His first televised final he reached in August 2010 at the European Darts Championship, where Phil Taylor defeated him with 1:11 ( became his Masters final non- televised ). This, he qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts 2010 and 2011, both of which were held in Wolverhampton. At the tournament of 2010, he caused a stir when he defeated in the quarterfinals despite repeated Gary Anderson still with 16:15. In the semifinals, but then he was defeated James Wade with 6:16. At the Grand Slam in 2011 he was defeated at the group stage Terry Jenkins in the second round with 8:10. Because of its semi feeder 2010, he has also qualified for the Grand Slam of Darts 2012.

At the World Championships PDC 2012, he was defeated by defeating Scott MacKenzie (3:1) and Roland Scholten ( 4-0) in the second round to the eventual World Champion Adrian Lewis with 0:4.

Jones is a fan of Wolverhampton Wanderers, which earned him his nickname The Wanderer. He is a widower and has three children (Emma, Katie and Joanne )
