Wayne R. Dynes

Wayne R. Dynes ( born August 23, 1934) is an American author and art historian.

Life

Dynes studied history and art at UCLA in California. After graduating, he got a job as a university professor of art history at Hunter College in New York City, where he taught from 1972 to 2005. Dynes undertook his studies for many trips to Europe. In the 1960s he was a member of the organization Mattachine Society in New York City. Together with the librarian Jack Stafford, he developed various biographies of LGBT people. His most important books include Homosexuality: A Research Guide from 1987 and his two part book Encyclopedia of Homosexuality ( Garland) of 1990.
