Wayne Wells

Alton Wayne Wells ( born September 29, 1946 in Abilene, Texas ) is a former American professional wrestler.

Career

Wayne Wells began in high school with the rings. He was very successful there and won, starting for OC Marshall, 1963 and 1964, the Oklahoma High School Championships in free style, Lightweight. At the University of Oklahoma, he attended his high school years after, his successes in the struggle continued. He won several championships NCAA ( US-amerik. University Sports Association ) in 1967 and 1968. He also participated in the U.S. Championships AAU ( Amer. athletes Union) and won in 1970 and 1972 three times in succession the United States Championship in freestyle wrestling, the welterweight division. He was nominated for the 1968 Olympics, finished there but the thankless fourth place. Whereby he mainly failed because of his inexperience, because the Olympics were his first participation in an international tournament. Before the 1972 Olympics in Munich Wayne Wells was close to graduating from law school. He then did something that was unusual for American athletes, he interrupted his studies to come up with a huge hard training, he trained at times up to five hours a day to prepare for the games. Was worth the effort because it was Olympic champion, while also having the German national peak Ringer Adolf Seger clearly defeated in the final battle on points.

Wayne Wells finished after his active career wrestler, also finished his law studies successfully and now works as a lawyer. For his contributions to the sport wrestler he was inducted in 1982 into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
