How to become immortal - Every Minute Counts (Original Title: Ways to live forever ) is a published in 2008 young adult novel by Sally Nicholls. The German translation was worried by Birgitt Kollmann.
Sally Nicholls wrote her debut novel How to become immortal won numerous awards at age 23 in a writing seminar and was it in their home. The eleven-year old Sam Oliver McQueen is suffering from leukemia and is aware of the serious situation of his current disease state. But he is far from desperate and depressed. He decides to use his time as possible. He seeks answers to questions that the adults have to deal only reluctantly and dodge when they come for language: Why God lets children get sick? Where do you get when you died. Whether the world will still be there if it does not exist any more. All answers that Sam finds life and the world with his adventurous inquiries about himself, he notes in a book he has started to write. He has also created a list of desires that he wants to achieve: kissing a girl become a famous researcher, watch a horror movie, an escalator in the opposite direction up or down run, look at the world from outer space, set a world record or drive, for example, in an airship.
In implementing its wishes him helps his best friend Felix Stranger, who is ill with cancer and also thirteen and he has met during one of his many hospital stays. In September 2008, the American edition (American) arrived at Arthur A. Levine Books in bound form on the market.
The German translation appeared in paperback on 30 July 2008 by Hanser Fiction. A paperback edition will be published on 1 May 2010 at the Deutscher Taschenbuch Verlag.

The book has been implemented for the German market as a radio play. It was under the WDR Monika Frederking ( dramaturgy and editing) produced and appeared on April 1, 2009. The play was a great success. Filming
The Spanish production company El Capitán Pictures filmed the novel, directed by Gustavo Ron, with British actors. The role of the sick Sam plays Robbie Kay. At the Berlinale 2010, the first excerpts were shown from the film, the official premiere will take place at the Cannes Film Festival in 2010.
The German title of the film is called Ways to Live Forever - The soul never dies.
