We Can not Dance (English for "we can not dance " ) is the 14th studio album by British rock band Genesis. The published in November 1991, work is the last studio album of the group, which was recorded with vocalist Phil Collins, who five years later left the band and was replaced for the album Calling All Stations (1997) by Ray Wilson. Although Collins returned in 2006 back to Genesis, but without recording any new material.

Background

The album was recorded in November 1991 by Anthony Banks Ltd. / Philip Collins Ltd. / Michael Rutherford Ltd. / Hit And Run Music ( Publishing) Ltd.. published. The best rankings in the charts were number 1 in the UK and Germany and No. 4 in the USA. The album was produced by Genesis and Nick Davis. Remixed by Nick Davis was supported by Mark Robinson.

Over the years 1991 to 1993 six singles were released, all of which reached down to the last one finished in the top 25 on the charts in the UK and the USA. The album was in Germany 25 weeks at # 1 on the album charts. The album is still in front of the predecessor Invisible Touch with over 18 million copies sold worldwide, the overall most successful album of the group. With I Can not Dance and Hold on My Heart, it also contained the hit singles so far past the band's history.

Description of individual songs

  • No Son of Mine: The narrative of a troubled father -son relationship piece, which was released as the first single before the album is not, as is often assumed, autobiographical nature. Collins built on the basis of the exclamation " No Son of Mine" a text from the subject, in which he merely put himself into the song in the sense of the narrator.
