WebEdition

WebEdition is a free web content management system ( WCMS ) which finds its strongest distribution in German-speaking countries with more than 70,000 installations. webEdition is a file-and database- based system at the same time and can store both static content perform as well as provide complex dynamic content.

WebEdition is written in the PHP scripting language, MySQL is the database used for data storage and contains the Zend Framework also a work based on it, separate Software Development Kit ( SDK) for building an extension module. The webEdition SDK is available under GNU Lesser General Public License ( LGPL).

WebEdition is modular and can be expanded to meet specific requirements in functions. After the installation, there are many modules that provide the customizability and additional performance webEdition. History

Created the web CMS webEdition is originally at the Astarte New Media AG in the year 2001. 2003 webEdition was sold to a group of investors and further developed under the webEdition Software GmbH. In 2006, then changed its name to the webEdition Software GmbH living-e AG and developed the CMS up to version 5.1.2.5 commercially on. Use

WebEdition is mainly used in small and medium-sized companies from all sectors. It is estimated that worldwide webEdition is more than 70,000 times installed and in use.

Developers can use so-called we: tags also create powerful sites without extensive programming knowledge. Individual functions and classes can be incorporated by PHP in the templates.

Function and architecture
