Webster County (Kentucky)
The Webster County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kentucky. In 2010, the County had 13,621 inhabitants and a population density of 15.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dixon, named after Archibald Dixon, a U.S. senator. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.
Geography
The County is located in western Kentucky, is in the west about 15 miles from Illinois, in the northeast about 25 km from Indiana and has an area of 869 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. At the Webster County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Webster County was formed on February 29, 1860 from parts of Henderson County, Hopkins County and Union County. It was named after Daniel Webster (1782-1852), who was 1841-1843 U.S. Secretary of State.
