WebWork

WebWork of OpenSymphony was programmed in the Java programming language framework for developing Java web applications. WebWork is now no longer being developed to to bug fix releases of version 2.2. WebWork has been adopted as the basis for the re-implementation of Struts to Struts 2.

WebWork

WebWork has been developed to the development process of Web applications to simplify and make it more productive. WebWork sat on XWork. In addition to the features provided by XWork enabled WebWork support in the generation of reusable UI templates. This included, among others, internationalization, form control, dynamic form parameter mapping to JavaBeans, robust client and server side validation, and much more.

License

WebWork was available under the OpenSymphony Software License, which is a modified form of the Apache Software License.

Fusion of WebWork and Struts

On 27 November 2005 announced the WebWork developers Patrick Lightbody that WebWork is used as a basis for Apache Struts2 .. The following 2.2.x will indeed marketed under the name of WebWork, advanced features and major releases but are run exclusively under Struts2.

In a joint proposal of WebWork and Struts committers was announced that the Struts 1.x similar WebWork framework constitutes a better basis for Struts2 and the merger would thus benefit from the technical superiority of WebWork and Struts of the larger community.
