Weckewerk

Awaken plant is a North Hessian sausage specialty. It is made from cooked brawn and minced meat or sausage and broth of pork, sometimes come to cooked meat, blood and offal. Is stretched the sausage with stale buns that give the Awakening work to its name: " Awakening " or " Wegge " is the traditional term for bread in northern Hesse. Common side dishes are boiled potatoes, pickled cucumber and beetroot or a green salad with Schmandsoße.

In addition to the Ahlen sausages, liver sausage and blood sausage is one of the Awakening work to the standard products of the traditional slaughter house in northern Hesse. It was originally a form of leftovers and was prepared from the offal.
