WEDAL

The WEDAL (West Germany connecting pipeline ) is a 319 km long natural gas pipeline in Germany, which is operated by GASCADE.

About the Interconnector pipeline connection between Britain and the continent, the North Sea gas comes at the Belgian coast at Zeebrugge. It is passed through the network of the Belgian operator Fluxys according Eynatten; from there to Germany the WEDAL via Aachen, Wuppertal, Soest and Bielefeld begins to Bad Salzuflen, where southwest of the city via the Lippe compressor station with two gas turbine driven compressor units and a total output of approximately 26 megawatts, the connection to the MIDAL.

The construction of the WEDAL was started in June 1996 by the Wingas Group and completed the pipeline with a diameter of 1000 mm in October 1998 for about 600 million DM. On 15 October 1998, it was put into operation.
