Weddelbrook

Weddelbrook is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography and transport

Weddelbrook is located directly southwest of Bad Bramstedt in a rural environment. To the north runs the federal highway 206 from Bad Bramstedt to Itzehoe, east of the highway 4 from Hamburg to Bad Bramstedt.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1322. The place name probably indicates on a ford ( Old Saxon: Weddel = wade ) in a river or wetland ( brook ) back.

The mill pond was created in 1770 for a Lohmühle, replaced in 1868 a flour mill was built, which today is a listed building and is used as a residence.

As the Good Bramstedt, to which the village had heard, was disbanded in 1874, Weddelbrook became a separate parish

In 1962, the first place in the competition Our village is beautiful in part and immediately won first place in the district competition and the second in the state competition. 1997 was again Weddelbrook Regional winner and won the 1998 bronze medal in the national competition.

Policy

Of the twelve seats in the municipal council has the voter community FWW since the local elections 2008 six seats, the CDU and the voter community KWVW have three seats.

Economy

Weddelbrook has evolved from a purely agricultural community into a residential community. There are also some larger business enterprises. Near the mill pond there is a camp.
