Wedendorf is a municipality in the district of North West Wedendorfersee in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). Until 1 July 2011, the place was a separate municipality.

Geography

Located in the center of the county town Vedas village is 13 kilometers from the town of Greve mills, about 30 kilometers from Lübeck and five kilometers from the small town Rehna. The hilly area between the rivers Radegast and Stepenitz reaches about 75 m above sea level. NN. The Wedendorfer lake separates Wedendorf from neighboring Köchelstorf.

History

The Good Wedendorf was from 1255 to 1680 in the possession of the family von Bülow and later went on to the family von Bernstorff. The castle was built in 1697 in Wedendorf as Baroque and 1805 expanded to a three-story mansion in neo-classical style, designed by Martin Friedrich Rabe. After the Second World War, it served as the home of the East German union fdgb. In the early 1990s the castle from the Münchenerin Catherine was purchased and renovated main from 1996 to April 2003. Today the castle is a hotel.

The former municipality Wedendorf, which includes the districts Kasendorf ( incorporated on 1 July 1950) and Kirch Grambow included, went through a merger with Köchelstorf on 1 July 2011 in the new community Wedendorfersee on.

Transport links

Connection roads lead of Wedendorf in the small town Rehna after Gadebusch ( 10 km) and the town of Greve mills. From Rehna consists rail connection ( railway Schwerin Rehna ).
