Weedy sea dragon

Leafy fish ( Phycodurus eques )

The subfamily of Nadelpferdchen and pipefish ( Solegnathinae ) is comprised of various pipefish species from the Indo-Pacific, including the well known fish scraps from the coasts of Australia. The pipefish are distinguished by their leaf -like serving of camouflage, skin outgrowths of the other members of the group.

Allen Nadelpferdchen and ghost pipefish lack a caudal fin. The tail of the Nadelpferdchen, as the seahorse, used as a prehensile organ.

Reproduction

As with all pipefish passed the females the eggs to the male fish, which they carry to the slip at the tail base. There are no pelagic larval stage. The hatched juveniles immediately go to the hidden life of the parents near the ground over. Therefore, all species have only a relatively small area of distribution.

An exception is the double-ended Nadelpferdchen ( Syngnathoides biaculeatus ). Here, the male carries the eggs on the abdominal base. The boys keep on driving after hatching in Sargassum seaweeds. This explains the large distribution area of the Art
