Weehawken [ ˌ wi ː ː hɑ kən ] is a township in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. In the 2000 census, a total population of 13,501 was registered.

On 11 July 1804, here is a duel between Aaron Burr, vice president under Thomas Jefferson was at the time, and Alexander Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States occurred. Hamilton died a day later from an injury.

Geography

Weehawken is located in the New York metropolitan area on the west bank of the Hudson River, across the southern half of Manhattan, between Hoboken in the South and West New York in the north. To the west is adjacent to Union City, Weehawken with which shares a portion of Park Avenue.
