Weer

Weer is a municipality with 1520 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Schwaz, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Schwaz.

Geography

The scattered village is located on the eastern part of the Murkegels Weer stream at an altitude of 558 meters. The Weerbach (a small side stream of the Inn River ) rises in the Tux Alps and forms the border between the districts of Schwaz and Innsbruck Land and between the two communities and Kolsass Weer. South of the town lies in the Tux Alps Geiseljoch, about a locked vehicle for public transport infrastructure leads to the Tux Valley.

From the municipal area ( 561 hectares) around 330 hectares are intensively used for agriculture.

History

The settlement area of Weer was already inhabited by the Illyrians. There are numerous prehistoric finds in the area. Many of the old farm and field names also point to later Roman settlement. From Innsbruck, the Roman road led down the Inn valley, including through Weer.

Around 550 penetrated the Bavarians from the Lower Inn Valley forth into the space of Weer. 1075 presumably derived from a Celto - Illyrian language root locus name is first mentioned in documents. Like the entire Schwaz mining district also experienced Weer in the 16th century heyday. In 1500 a gold washing was operated in Weer, a smelter was for the recovered at Kolsassberg iron into operation. In the 16th century led to the pastures to clear the Inn, thereby reducing the number of farms doubled.

Until the Second World War Weer was a farming village. The industrialization in the room Wattens and Schwaz a building boom developed, and so in the districts of Gries and Weerer level produced numerous settlement houses. Weer is therefore now a popular residential community, therefore there are more off than commuters.
