Geography

Location

Wehingen lies on the Great Heuberg, a plateau in the south-western part of the Swabian Alb at the confluence of the western oxbow of Bara, the so-called Lower Bara, and the Mühlbach. The municipal area extends from 752 m to 1005 m and is located entirely in the Upper Danube Nature Park.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Deilingen, to the east by Oberheim in Zollernalbkreis, on the southeast by Reichenbach am Heuberg, to the south and to the west by Bubsheim Gosheim.

Community structure

The municipality includes the village Wehingen Wehingen with the district Frohnhofen, about two kilometers east of the hamlet on Harras and the house gate house. The municipality is located the ruins Wehingen.

History

The first mention of Wehingen dated March 27, 793 Until the 14th century, the monastery of Reichenau was the largest landowner. 1351 came to the village of Further Austria until it became part of Württemberg in 1805. 1830 Wehingen was awarded market rights.

Religions

Wehingen has a Protestant and a Catholic church. Until 1738 Wehingen belonged to the parish church Fronhofen. The first parish church in Wehingen was October 3, 1738 dedicated to Saint Ulrich, as well as the current second on September 19, 1899.

Policy

The church is the seat of the local government association Heuberg in which the communities Bubsheim, Deilingen, Egesheim, Gosheim, Königheim, Reichenbach and Wehingen have joined.

Mayor Joseph Bear is also honorary mayor of Egesheim and Reichenbach am Heuberg.

Partnerships

Wehingen maintains since 1969 partnerships with the French town of St. Berthevin in the department of Mayenne, about four kilometers from the city of Laval. In the summer of 2009, the 40th anniversary of the partnership was solemnly celebrated in both communities.

Culture and sights

The municipality is the Tourist " Donaubergland " connected.

Structures

  • The Catholic parish church of St. Ulrich was ersterwähnt documented in 1299. Their organ was built by the brothers from Spaichingen Brown (1843 ).

Recreation and Sports

Wehingen has a well-developed network of cycling, walking and hiking trails and cross-country ski trails in the winter, the lead throughout the Heuberg and the communities Böttingen and Bubsheim connect. Wehingen is an industrial community with nearly 1,800 jobs. Metal and plastic processing plants, machinery and equipment, manufacturer of plastic injection molded and thermoformed parts, electronic and electrical engineering companies dominate. Traffic

Wehingen is located on the country's roads 433 and 435, which establish connections to each of the federal highways B14 and B27. While Wehingen was connected to 1966 by the Heuberg track of Spaichingen to Reichenbach (Heuberg ) on the railway network and two stations owned ( Wehingen and Harass - Oberheim ), you can now reach the site by bus, which has in Aldingen connection to the ring pull.
