Guangqing Wei (* 1963 in Huangshi, Hubei, China) is a Chinese painter. He was known for his series Red Wall and Made in China.

Art style

Wei Guangqing was one of the main members of the 85 's New Wave Art Momement. In the 1990s he became a member of the politically oriented pop artist. His works have a flat and symbolic composition, which is a reference to the traditional ethics and modern culture. Red Wall is a symbolic work that addresses old values using traditional woodcarving illustration and stories. Here Wei Guangqing points through the use of visual language of comics on the contrast between tradition and modernity. His color palette contains strong complementary colors. The artist creates a historical- ethnic pop with regional significance.
