Weingart Stadium

The Weingart Stadium ( formerly ELAC Stadium ) is a stadium on the site of the East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. It was opened in 1951 and was a sports venue of the Olympic Summer Games 1984.

History

The construction of the ELAC Stadium, which opened in 1951, cost $ 3.1 million. It has 20,365 seats, next to which there still are some standing passengers. In the stadium games were played in football, hockey and American football. At the 1984 Summer Olympics, the stadium was renovated. Following the work of the ELAC Stadium was renamed Weingart Stadium. During the 1984 Games, the stage encounters the hockey tournaments were held at the Weingart. In 1990, the hockey team of the United States also contributed from another international match in this stadium. Besides athletics competitions were held as the Los Angeles district championships.

Beginning of the 1990s played the football team Los Angeles Salsa at the Weingart Stadium their home games. In the 1994 released movie Forrest Gump, the scenes were filmed in this stadium, which show a football game at the University of Alabama Stadium.
