Weingut Reichsrat von Buhl

The winery Imperial Council of Buhl is the largest winery in Bad Durkheim in the German Palatinate wine region. It produces mainly Riesling wines and manages 52 hectares of vineyards. The estate is a member of the Association of German predicate and quality wineries eV (VDP ).

History

Founder and first owner of the house was Franz Peter Buhl, Member of the Baden and the Bavarian parliament. He came after the death of his father Andreas Jordan in 1848, about the legacy of his wife Josefine on the estate. After his death, his son Franz Armand Buhl took over the estate; He was a member of parliament and a friend of the former Reich Chancellor Otto von Bismarck; In 1885 he was awarded the title of Imperial Council of the Bavarian crown, which was added to the name of the winery since 1912. Under his leadership, both members of the Buhlsche wines were internationally known, among other things, that they were proffered at numerous international conferences and world exhibitions, besides also at the opening of the Suez Canal anno 1869. Later owners were Eugen Buhl and Franz Eberhard Buhl, who the Imperial Council of the Kingdom of Bavaria. Under the direction of Franz Eberhard Buhl's the Good encompassed over 100 ha and was one of the largest wineries in Germany. With his death in 1921 the family Buhl went out in the Palatinate. Awards

Vineyards and varietals

The winery produces mainly Riesling wines.
