Weissensteinpass

The white stone Pass is located north of Solothurn and leads over the white stone, the mountain of the Solothurn.

The pass leads from the southern Upper Village (Canton Solothurn ) after Gänsbrunnen only about 12 kilometers away, and so is also an entry in the Swiss Jura.

The pass road has a slope of up to 22% (average: 9.5%) on. Thus, the white stone is one of the steepest passes in Switzerland. The pass road is little traveled and subject on the north side of the winter closure. The south side is open even in winter, when there is no snow.

There is a paved road with no pavement marking is sometimes so narrow that two cars can not meet. In particular, the south side has many close and sometimes spectacularly carved into the rock curves.

The pass is at 1,284 m above sea level. M. and consists only of a narrow ridge with a narrow curve. South just below the summit are a small picnic area and the Hotel Kurhaus " white stone ". The highest point of the white stone is the east of the pass traversal location Röti to 1,395, 2 m above sea level. M.

On the pass road there is no winter service. For this reason and because of the enormous slope of the road, the pass road in the winter serves as a nationally popular toboggan run. Since the north side almost always in the shade, can go sledging on this site much longer. For transport, the pass road is completely blocked at this time.
