Geography

Weisslingen also includes the outer Wachten Dettenried, Lendikon, Theilingen, Neschwil and Schwändi. The community Weisslingen is in the Zurich Oberland on a hill that slopes down to the north against the Tösstal, in the south against the Kemptthal. The dominant feature is the Brauiweiher about 1 km south of the village of White Lingen, which was artificially created in the 19th century to supply the then existing brewery with ice. A second, smaller artificial pond which Theiliger pond, located between Weisslingen and Theilingen.

The community Weisslingen bordered to the north Kyburg, on the northeast by cell, to the east by Wild Mountain, to the south and to the west by Rumlikon Illnau -Effretikon.

History

The territory of the municipality Weisslingen was probably inhabited since the Hallstatt and La Tène period. In Zihlacker there was a Roman settlement. From the settlement by the Alamanni testified tombs dating from the 5th and 6th century AD The first documented mention of White Lingen Lingen and part was on September 10, 745 and on 22 December 764 at a goods transfer to the monastery of St. Gall. In a document of 764 a molino ( mill) is mentioned to Weisslingen that applies so as the oldest in the canton of Zurich.

Economy

Weisslingen features in addition to numerous small businesses in the typical artisan industries via a centrally located Volg offering the goods of daily use, a post office and several restaurants. The community has one of the highest proportions of single-family homes in the canton.

Weisslingen is involved in the Zurich Transport Network and can be reached by bus 832 from Kollbrunn and Pfäffikon and the bus line 640 from Illnau -Effretikon. In all these places, there are connections to the network of S -Bahn Zurich.
