Welchweiler
Welchweiler is a municipality in the district of Kusel, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Altenglan.
Geography
The village lies at the foot of the 536 meter high Herrmann mountain in the Western Palatinate. In the northeast is Elzweiler, southwest and north Altenglan is Sankt Julian.
History
Welchweiler was first mentioned in documents as Weldichwilre in 1320. It first belonged to the county Veldenz in 1595 to Palatinate -Zweibrücken.

The local council in Welchweiler consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The blazon of the arms is: " From black and silver split, right two gold, stacked, W ', left rotbezungter and rotbewehrter blue lion".
The double 'W', which shortens the place name, can be already detected on a seal from 1742. The lion is from the coat of arms of Pfalz- Zweibrücken.
