Welf (father of Judith)

Welf I ( † 3 September of unknown year ) is provable ancestor of the dynasty of the Guelphs and occupied in the year 819 when Count. He was married to the Saxon Heilwig that is (ie well after his death) referred to 826 as Abbess of Chelles.

His rise began with the two marriages he joined for his two daughters with members of the family of the Carolingians: The older Judith married Emperor Louis the Pious, while the younger Hemma whose son Louis married the Germans.
