Welf II, Count of Swabia

Welf II († March 10, 1030 ) was a Swabian count.

Welf II came from the Swabian branch of the Guelphs. He was married to Irmentrud / Imiza " of Gleiberg ". She was daughter of Count Frederick of Luxembourg, who was a brother of the future Empress Cunegonde of Luxembourg. The marriage ceremony is not safe to date. From this marriage the children Cunegonde and Welf III went. forth. The marriage brought Welf significant kingdom close and important to the royal estate Mering and the Lombard court Elisina possession. Mering was strategically important in the immediate vicinity of Augsburg. Welf joined the uprising in 1025 Ernst von Schwaben against King Conrad II of. 1027 followed his submission ( deditio ) in Ulm. Welf died 1030 and was buried in the grave lay Altdorf.
