Social assistance is a statutory means-tested benefit for needy people (also: Minimum income).

Social assistance, there are mainly only in the wealthier industrialized countries. In third world countries, however, social assistance is available. In the countries of Africa, for example, social assistance is paid by the state.

Structured very differently is the situation in emerging countries. For example, social assistance is granted in Turkey. Only a year-long unemployment benefit is paid.
