Wellington (Somerset)

Wellington is a small industrial town in Somerset, England. It is located about 11 km southwest of Taunton, near the border with Devon. The city has 13,696 inhabitants.

History

The earliest records of Wellington date from the early 10th century, then still as Weolingtun. The city was also mentioned in the so-called Domesday Book, in which is recorded that in Walingtone and West Buckland 61 farmers ( " farmer" ), 65 small farmers ("small holder" ) and 32 serfs ( " serf " ) are employed.
