Welshpool Town F.C.

Welshpool Town is a Welsh football club based in Welshpool, whose first team currently in the third highest Welsh League, the Mid Wales Football League Division One, plays.

The club was founded in 1878 and plays its home games in the 2,000 spectators comprehensive Maes y Dre Recreation Ground from. The stadium has 257 seats.

History

Welshpool Town in 1990 was one of the founding members of the Cymru Alliance, the second- highest division of Wales. In 1996, as a runner, the rise in the League of Wales, as the master Oswestry Town was not entitled to advancement. 1998 it rose again last but one from the League of Wales and played from 2002 to again in the Cymru Alliance.

In the 2001 /02 season of re- promotion to the top flight at the end of the 2002/03 season but one stood again on the penultimate place in the table which would actually result in the immediate re descent. The association, however, successfully put a protest against relegation because the newly promoted AFC Neath was denied a license because their stadium did not meet the minimum criteria. After the club for several years was still active in the top division, he rose after the 2009/10 season after a reduction of the League in the Cymru Alliance from. There followed a further decline in the following year in the third-class Mid Wales Football League Division One. In the season 2011/12 was also built there the last place, but remained in the league, as there were no climbers from the underlying Division Two.
