Welwyn Hatfield

Welwyn Hatfield is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Hertfordshire in England. It shares land borders with Greater London, with the towns of Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Urban District Welwyn Garden City and the Rural District Welwyn and Hatfield. The district had initially the status of a District and submitted an application to be made a Borough. The Privy Council was on 15 November 2005 to his consent, the change was made on 22 May 2006.
