Wembach

Wembach is a municipality in Baden -Württemberg and belongs to the district of Lörrach. It belongs to the Gemeindeverwaltungsverband Schönau at the Black Forest.

With an area of 1.8 km ² Wembach is the smallest municipality in Baden -Württemberg.

Geography

The community Wembach lies at the mouth of Böllenbaches in the meadow in the Black Forest.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the town of Schönau im Schwarzwald and is otherwise surrounded by the territory of the municipality Fröhnd.

The municipality includes the village Wembach Wembach and the hamlet of shingles.

History

The places of the meadow valley were probably all settled 900-1300. Also Wembach originated around the year 1000 as Alemannic clearing. The first mention was made in 1278 as Wendwak. The church belonged from the 13th century to the monastery of St. Blaise and thus to the Habsburg Further Austria. 1374 was the first mention of the present hamlet of shingles as to the Schindlen. 1806 and 1809 Baden Wembach was an independent municipality.

Traffic

By Wembach leads the federal highway 317 ( Titisee -Neustadt - Todtnau - Lörrach ). On this route also runs the bus line 7300 of UBS. Until 1966 the village was served by the railway line cell in the meadow valley - Todtnau to the rail network.

Educational institutions

In Wembach there is no kindergarten or school. Primary and secondary students attend school in nearby Schönau im Schwarzwald, there is also a gymnasium. The nearest secondary school is located in Zell in the meadow valley.
