Wen Xiao Zheng

Wenxiao Zheng (Chinese郑 闻 晓, Pinyin Zheng Wénxiǎo, born 1981 ) is a Chinese violist.

Zheng, a student in the class of Hariolf Schlichtig at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, was honored in January 2008 with the first prize in the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition. The 2008 subjects were advertised Piano Quartet and Viola, in which Zheng excelled under 13 reported participants.

Zheng Wenxiao began playing violin at age four. At the age of ten he was taken in the early gifted support program of the Shanghai Conservatory. At 14, he moved to the viola and graduated at the Shanghai Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts with honors. He continued his education at Gerard Causse at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia Madrid and at the Detmold Academy of Music with Prof. Diemut Poppen. He is currently studying in the master class of Prof. Hariolf Schlichtig at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He attended master classes with Yuri Bashmet and Paul Newbauer.

Zheng is the first prize at the National Competition Viola China, the competition " ciudad de Xativa " (Spain) and won the special prize of the President of the Jury (Yuri Bashmet ) when Lionel Tertis Viola Competition. He was a prize winner at Llanes Viola Competition and won the special award for "Best Chamber Musicians " at the Yuri Bashmet Viola Competition in Moscow. Zheng Wenxiao can already look back on an extensive concert career, both as a solo violist in the Schleswig -Holstein Music Festival Orchestra and as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals such as the Encuentro de Musica Santander or the Festival of Contemporary Music Shanghai.
