Wenatchee is the county seat and the largest city of Chelan County in the center of the U.S. state of Washington. In the census of 2010 the city had 31,925 inhabitants.

The city was (also: Wenatchee ) after the Indian tribe of Wenatchi named. Due to the numerous apple orchards in the valley of the Wenatchee city is nicknamed Apple Capital of the World.

Geography

Wenatchee is located at the confluence of the Wenatchee and Columbia, on the eastern precursors of the Cascade Range. The village lies on the western side of the Columbia, opposite on the other side of the river is East Wenatchee. The Columbia forms the boundary between Chelan County and Douglas County. Wenatchee is the largest city of the defined for statistical purposes Wenatchee- East Wenatchee, Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes both counties.
