Geography
The community Wendisch Rietz located approximately 60 km south-east of Berlin, about halfway between Berlin and Frankfurt ( Oder). The town lies at the southern end of the Scharmützel also called the March Sea, which is with a length of 10 km, the largest lake in the Mark Brandenburg. The community is recognized resort since 2001. The community belongs to the Office Scharmutzelsee. The administrative headquarters of the Office is in the town of Bad Saarow.
In the 1990s, a new town center was built with a convention center, Fisheries Museum, a supermarket, a savings bank and a drug store. Also new holiday centers, such as the holiday park on Glubigsee (formerly Arminiushotel and Landal Green Park ) and the holiday park on Scharmutzelsee have emerged. Furthermore, provide a campsite and other hotels and boarding houses as places to stay. At the beach on Scharmutzelsee at the holiday park is the water sports station surf -and- Fun, which also operates a boat rental place. The Satama Sauna Park completes the offer. Since Easter 2011 Wendish Rietz has with the Railway Park Wendisch Rietz eV personenbefördernde a garden railway, which is located directly at the train station.
History
Already in 1240 there was a settlement in Brandenburg called Wendish Rietz, which is attributed to the 1241 documentary mentioned Church of Dahmsdorf. The town itself was first mentioned in 1376. Slavs had once made to settle here - as even a cursory place name. The name comes from the Slavic Rietz Windiszchin Riecz ( German trench or flow ).
In the era of National Socialism was the place Maerkisch Rietz. The name change was reversed after 1945.

- Wendish Rietz is accessible by car via the A12 (exit 3: Storkow ) to reach and the B 246 or the regional train RB36 (from Frankfurt ( Oder) and Kingswells, weekdays and from Berlin- Lichtenberg) on the railway king Wusterhausen - Grunow.
- The location is idyllic in the midst of other lakes ( Lake Storkow, Glubigsee, Springsee ) and a large wooded area. It is an ideal starting point for boating. Toward Storkow there are about 10 km (one way with a lock ), the ride is more to Berlin possible. In the direction of Bad Saarow there are about 10 km (one way). In addition, the Scharmutzelsee offers because of the north-south position as an ideal for sailing.
Resident companies
- In Wendish Rietz is the upper mountain Clinic Berlin / Brandenburg, one of the three private acute care hospitals for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy, founded by neurologist Matthias Gottschaldt. She specializes in treating people with depression, addictions, burn-out as well as anxiety and panic disorders.
