Geography

The community Wendisch Rietz located approximately 60 km south-east of Berlin, about halfway between Berlin and Frankfurt ( Oder). The town lies at the southern end of the Scharmützel also called the March Sea, which is with a length of 10 km, the largest lake in the Mark Brandenburg. The community is recognized resort since 2001. The community belongs to the Office Scharmutzelsee. The administrative headquarters of the Office is in the town of Bad Saarow.

History

Already in 1240 there was a settlement in Brandenburg called Wendish Rietz, which is attributed to the 1241 documentary mentioned Church of Dahmsdorf. The town itself was first mentioned in 1376.
