Wendy Holdener

Wendy Holdener ( born May 12, 1993) is a Swiss ski racer. It belongs since 2012 to the A-team of Swiss-Ski, and is particularly successful in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.

Biography

Originally from Unteriberg in Canton Schwyz Holdener received at the Sportmittelschule Engelberg training as a hotel management employees. The first FIS races she contested in November 2008 at the age of 15 years. In the winter of 2009/10 she went at this level regularly in the top ten in February 2010 and achieved their first victory. At the 2010 Junior World Championships she went on the descent to fifth place. Also at the Swiss Championships 2010 she narrowly missed a medal in fourth place of departure.

At the end of this winter Holdener was in the FIS World Ranking the best of the 1993 vintage in the disciplines of downhill, super -G and slalom; in the giant slalom, she took second place. Because of this, she got the opportunity to do together with the national team the summer training camp in New Zealand. Although she had only contested four races in the European Cup, it was on October 23, 2010 in Soelden her debut in the World Cup. They drove to 55th place in the giant slalom. Just over a month later, on 28 November 2010, she won the first World Cup points in 18th place of the slalom in Aspen.
