Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages
The private Ursulinische Wenzao University of Foreign Languages (Chinese文藻 外语 大学, Pinyin Wénzǎo Wàiyǔ Daxue, English:. Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages ) in the city of Kaohsiung is the only foreign-language university in Taiwan. In October 2012 a total of 9,139 students were enrolled in all courses.
History
The university was established in 1966 under the name Wenzao College (Chinese文藻 外语 学院Wenzao Waiyu Xueyuan ) founded by the Sisters of the Catholic Ursuline Order in the southern Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung to train young people with good language skills, and after the first Chinese bishop Luo Wenzao (1616-1691) named. Until 1980, only girls were included. In 1999, the previous five-year undergraduate ( junior college ) by a two -year postgraduate course (Senior College) with a bachelor 's degree was completed. Since 2003 there is also a four-year technical college degree program offered in foreign languages, also culminating in a bachelor. After evaluation by the Ministry of Education, the institution received the rank of a university and was renamed on 1 August 2013 Wenzao University of Foreign Languages .

Other facilities include, among others, an EU information center and centers for foreign languages diagnostics, teacher training and general education. The Chinese Centre of Wenzao offers Chinese courses for foreign students.
Campus
The architecture of the building of the university consists of a mixture of traditional Chinese and modern elements. The two oldest buildings, the Zhengqi building and the Lourdes Building, are three stories and lean on in their design to the traditional Chinese style. In the center of campus there is a small playground.
The constant remodeling and expansion of the university made the construction of a new range of higher buildings necessary. The tallest building is the Zhishan building with 16 floors. Other facilities include a library, a sports hall, the Huayu auditorium, conference rooms, a cafeteria and dormitories for students, teachers and guests.
From the history of Wenzao as a Catholic educational institution witness the Yongsu Chapel, fairs are held in regularly, as well as the St.Angela convent, in the still living sisters of the Ursuline Order. Every year for Christmas presents, the entire campus with fairy lights and an oversized Christmas tree decorated, in addition to the traditionally colorful nativity scene is set up.
