Wenze is a town and a district of the city blocks in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt.

The community of Wenze include Quarnebeck ( on 1 January 1974 incorporated ) and Trippigleben ( on 1 April 1974 incorporated ).

Geography

Wenze is located on the northern edge of the Natural Park Drömling. South of the town lies the Mittelland Canal; the next transshipment port located in Calvörde.

History

Wenze

Wenze was first documented in 1375. Already at that time duties of the village to the " von der Schulenburg, " and to the monastery this village are occupied. Wenze was created as Rundling. As in the entire region specific half-timbered houses the village. In the chronicle reports of two devastating fires, which burned down in almost the whole place. The timber-framed church was built in 1736.

Trippigleben

The town was first mentioned in 1121 as Droploge. In the 16th century Trippigleben belonged to the Official Brunswick- Lüneburg. By the border situation and customs border, many residents had the smuggling as a sideline. The volunteer fire department was established in 1933.
