Werda (Botswana)

Werda is a village in the Kgalagadi District of Botswana. It is located about 140 km north-east of the district capital Tshabong and 270 km southeast of the capital, Gaborone, Botswana. In the south, it borders on the Republic of South Africa.

2011 Werda had 3,261 inhabitants, ten years earlier the figure was 1961 inhabitants.

In Werda there is the Hilde Westermeyer Women's League Conference Centre, a meeting house, which was financially possible by the church circle simmering -Trarbach and the two women's support organizations in the region. The church circle simmering -Trarbach maintains a partnership with the southwestern parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Botswana ( ELCB ) is in the Werda. This goes back to the begun in the 1970s in the southwest Botswana work of Kang- Hukuntsi mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia, which was supported in this by the United Evangelical Mission, the former Rhenish Missionary Society.
