Werewere Liking

Were Were Liking - Gnepo ( born May 1, 1950 in Bonde, Cameroon ) is a Cameroonian writer and artist who lives in the Ivory Coast.

Life

Werewere - Liking was brought up by her paternal grandparents, according to the tradition of the tribe of Bassa. She lives in Ivory Coast since 1975. Here she has made herself as an employee at the "Institut de littérature et d' esthétique négro - africaines " the University of Abidjan primarily by their research on the tradition and aesthetics in sub-Saharan Africa (including puppets to statues as well as the narrative Kaydara ) a name.

Since the 1980s, she was - instrumental in the renewal of the aesthetics of ritual theater - in addition to Marie -José Hour Antier.

In 1985, she founded the village in Abidjan Ki- Yi M'Bock. In the Bassa language, their native language, means Ki- Yi M'Bock as much as " the knowledge that surpasses all knowledge." For their " chant -roman " La mémoire Amputee received Werewere - Liking in 2005 the prestigious Noma Award for African Literature.
