Werner Andermatt

Werner Andermatt ( born July 28, 1916 in train; † 29 May 2013) was a Swiss painter and graphic artist.

Career

From 1935 to 1938 Andermatt attended the School of Applied Arts Lucerne, settled for the teacher of drawing and graphic form. His further training took place in Paris ( La Grande Chaumiere Academy ) and Zurich ( Academy Wabel ).

From 1938 on, he worked for 10 years as a graphic artist and book designer, until he became the teacher of figure drawing and graphic arts at the School of Art Lucerne 1948.

From 1950 to 1981 Andermatt served as Director of the School of Design, Lucerne, 1986, he was awarded the Central Swiss Culture Award, 1996, the badge of honor of the city of Lucerne.

He lived in Lucerne, was married and had four sons and a daughter. Andermatt was a member of visarte ( Professional Association of Visual Arts ), Department of Central Switzerland.
