Werner Bochmann

Werner Bochmann ( born May 17, 1900 in Meerane, † June 3, 1993 in Schliersee ) was a German pop and film composer.

Life

After attending secondary school in Meerane he began in 1919 at the Technical University in Dresden to study chemistry. But his enthusiasm for music was stronger. He studied with Joseph Mraczek Gustav and Franz Schreker music and then toured as a pianist in Folklore Ensemble Orchestra tipukta the Argentinian José Soler through Europe.

Bochmanns first compositions were published by Irving Berlin after German music publishers had rejected. His first printed piece was " I Called to Say Goodnight " ( 1929). 1933 Bochmann began to work for UFA. He composed the music for more than 120 German and international sound films, entertainment, dance and music for the stage. Among his most famous pieces include home thy stars (Text Erich Knauf ) from the movie Quax, the Crash Pilot ( 1941) and Good Night, Mother, sung by William Strienz. In addition, he took with his tango orchestra with Columbia Records Vinyl to. Bochmann discovered included the singing and Pfeiftalent the actress Ilse Werner.

Werner Bochmann lived over 50 years until his death in Schliersee. His tomb is located on the local St. Sixtus church cemetery. Schliersee honored him in 2002 with the naming of a street in his name and attaching a memory disk.

Since May 2011 there is in his hometown Meerane a permanent exhibition on the life and work of Werner Bochmann.
